From the age of eight I had a deep calling to design clothing. I knew instinctively that I would end up designing clothing as an adult. After having my first child at a young age, I almost gave up on my dream. Feeling somewhat distraught from being a single mother I felt more electricity towards my vision. Before I turned twenty I drew hundreds of designs and painted many women wearing my creatio…ns. I welcomed many still moments alone and consciously decided that one day I would pursue this passion. I proceeded to get married and have a second child. After my second child the pull to design clothing was even stronger. So I thought about it for a full year while being a stay at home mother and watching Oprah encouraging our society to go after our visions. One day I woke up and said “screw it! I have nothing to lose!” So I ordered my first fashion design and manufacturing book and read it quicker than anything I had ever read. My journey began in 2003. From young single mother to married business owner with two children, three stores and a regular gig on The Shopping Channel, to finally owning my own clothing business, Mandala Sky, independently.
